World Fisheries Day

21 November 2020

World Fisheries Day is celebrated every 21st November and represents a chance to recognise the vast and sometimes underappreciated food source for millions of humans that is the sea. It’s also an opportunity to look back over the last 12 months and assess how well fishing efforts have performed in achieving goals of sustainability, as well as setting out plans for the coming year.

World Fisheries Day serves as an important reminder that we need to change the way we manage global fisheries in order to maintain stocks and healthy aquatic ecosystems.

Why Do We Mark International Days?

SustainableOman, as a supporter of the SDGs and Oman Vision 2040, has embraced them as a powerful advocacy tool. Each international day offers many actors the opportunity to organise activities related to the theme of the day.

SustainableOman makes an international day, in addition to the Sultanate’s special days, a part of our awareness building campaign.
